Family,
You'll have to excuse the lack of pictures this week. We have had a crazy go of it the last few days. So, sorry that this is the only picture you get.
Funny story about this picture though. You see that bird to the right sitting on a pipe in the water? HAHA it did the coolest thing right before I took this picture. So, Sister Jones and I sat down to eat some lunch that we had bought at 7/11 (keeping it classy on foot) when we started seeing a little bird head poke out of the water. It would go down for about a minute and then resurface. We thought it was just a little birdie swimming. We kept watching it because we didn't have anything else to do. Then, all of the sudden, it comes up with a fish flopping in its mouth. We are freaking out on the bank. That isn't even the best part though. It swims over to the PVC pipe and crawls on. I thought it was going to grab it with its feet and tear into it. Nope. It started whacking it against the PVC pipe until it stops moving and then gulps it down in one bite!!! It was the coolest thing I had ever seen. I looked down at my sandwich and aloe juice and decided I need to start putting more thought and preparation into my food. HAHA that little bird inspired me.
Here is the closest my camera would zoom in on it.
After it ate the fish it stood there with its wings stretched out like this. It was, most likely, drying out its wings, but I think it was triumphantly screaming in his head, "Come at me, bro!"
In other news, things are going well. We kind of had a hard week, but have rekindled the fire and we hit it hard yesterday. We found a WONDERFUL family. Please pray for them. They accepted baptism right away. Their mom had just gotten out of the hospital when we knocked on their door. They loved the prayer and they kept saying how much they needed it. PLUS, ellos son mexicanos!! They are mexican, and I love mexicans. I'm so excited about them.
We got to do a lot of service this week, which means my farmer's tan is just getting better and better. We helped a lady move and then went over to mow a lady's lawn. We seriously underestimated the size of that thing. It ended up being 1/3 of an acre and of course we came at the hottest time of day, BUT she had a couple extra straw hats that she let us borrow. Mine had a pretty flower on it, so we were fine.
Anyway, that is about it for us over here. Florida has welcomed Sister Jones properly. We have had crazy hot, humid days and then pouring rain. I'm not going to lie though, I've kinda grown to love it.
LOVE YOU ALL!!
Hermana Gardner
