FAMILY!!!!
How are things going? We ate with the bishops family this week, and it made me miss you all. They had kids running around and craziness happening. I felt right at home. I love you guys.
This week has been a good one. I'll tell you guys a miracle and all the embarrassing things I did this week.
MIRACLE:
We saw a huge miracle this last week. We were on bike, but when got the bikes off the car to bike to our harvest spot, Sister Torralba's bike wasn't working; something had pinched the chain. So, we decided to walk to the nearest neighborhood and do as much work as we could while we waited for a member to come help us out. We walked through a park, and decided to talk to the homeless man that we always see as we drive past. His name is Mike. We prayed with him. He accepted baptism. He told us that he has a lot of sin. He said that he needs to be clean, so that Jesus won't be mad at him anymore. We testified of baptism, and at our return appointment, he had already read four chapters in the Book of Mormon. HE CAME TO CHURCH TOO! I know that we were meant to meet Mike. When the member came to fix Sister Torralba's bike that night, it took him 5 seconds. He snapped something back into place that we had cranked on for a good 15 minutes. God wanted us to meet Mike. God wanted Mike to be at church. God wants Mike to be baptized.
It's been kind of ironic because I just read through the chapters in Alma about the Zoramites. We had a hard time finding people to teach this week. Every time we are with Mike, I think of how Alma and Almulek felt as they taught the poor Zoramites. They saw that they were humble and "turned immediately towards" them. When I start to feel like it is weird that we are teaching a homeless man, I remember Alma and Almulek and how they knew these people were humble. We are not going to give up on him. He is still a son of God. Missions are humbling. I don't know that I would have felt this way before my mission. I'm so grateful for what I am learning here everyday.
DUMB STUFF:
1. We have biked all week , so many dumb things have happened. We were biking, and I almost fall off my bike because I see a turtle. We hop off our bikes and are freaking out. IT IS HUGE. We take a bunch of pictures, but then we think about it for a second...Why is he not moving? We walk around to the other side of it....Ummm...he was hit by a car. I felt like a jerk. I erased all the pictures and may have cried. My mission has made me even more sensitive. Are you sure we want me to come back home?
2. I ate ice cream and then immediately got on a bike. I found out that I still have a lactose sensitivity. 'Nuff said.
3. We knocked on a door, and a grumpy man comes to the door. He says, "You knocked on the wrong door, ladies. I'm atheist." I say, "We know God sent us here to you today. He loves you." HAHA he did not like that. I won't repeat the words he said, haha but it's true. God loves him.
Anyway, I've got to go. OOO! Adelina was confirmed. She is adorable. I love you all.
This doesn't do it justice, but Flordia loves you too.
Also, to all you May and June birthdays...We'll celebrate together next year. Just like this. Excited!?
