May 27, 2014

Family,

I missed you guys this week, again. Weird, I know. It's been a wonderful week though. we had transfer calls, but Sister Torralba and I will be staying together to finish training. We're ok with it. We get along a little too well sometimes :) It's fun.

So,  I don't know if you remember the woman that we told you about. The mother of a member that was our miracle investigator at church? Well, she, Adelina  was baptized. IT WAS BEAUTIFUL. It's been such a wonderful experience to be a part of. So, at Adelina's baptismal interview, we were talking to her daughter, Sister G, about the day she brought Adelina to church. Sister G said that she was going to invite her mother, but she didn't really think anything would come of it. She didn't even think her mom would say yes to church. When she did, Sister G was blown away. We shared with her how we had been praying for a member to invite someone to church, and how her mom turned out to be an answer to our prayers. She thought for a second and said, "Well, I have been praying for this day for 23 years now, so we answered each other's prayers."

The service was so beautiful. Sister G gave a talk and before she could finish, her mom stood up and gave her a huge hug. I don't think that there was a dry eye in the cultural hall. She told us after the service that her family kicked her out when they found out that Sister G joined the church 23 years ago. She never imagined that anyone would accept it, ESPECIALLY not her mom. Family, the Spirit testifies of truth!!!! Ever since the first time she stepped into the church, she felt the Spirit. It was so easy to get her baptized because we knew that she felt the Spirit. She knew that she had felt it, and she knew what she was doing was right. Right after her baptism, I asked her how she felt. She said, "There is so much happiness in my heart that it feels like it doesn't fit." The Spirit does it all; we just bring it and testify of it.

Such a wonderful family. I'm so grateful that we got a chance to be a part of all of this.

In other news, we had a little meeting for trainers. Guess who i saw! She dies (finishes her mission) at the end of this transfer. It is tragic, but we've all got to move on sometime.

So, Sister Torralba and i are basically out of miles, so we have been on bike the last little while. We have had some really embarrassing experiences... Like yesterday. We stopped at an incline to let a car go by.Well, he was kind and let us go. I, however, could not get my feet on the pedals and go up the incline. My feet kept falling off the pedals, so I had to GET OFF MY BIKE and run it across the street. Talk about the walk of shame: sweaty as all get out, in a skirt and crocs, and trotting my bike across the street. O the life of a FFLM missionary. There is hope though. A nasty old man told us we were hot directly after. He even offered a hug. How lucky and blessed are we?!

We also run into a lot of crazy creatures on our bikes. I know dad likes animal pictures, so here you go, old man.

Family, i love you. Sometimes I think about how you would all react to seeing me in certain situations and it helps me to laugh rather than cry or scream. You guys are awesome. I guess I'll spend forever with you. :) I hope you all have a great week.

Hermana Gardner aka
Tu Cabezona (that is sis. T's nickname for me. it means big head. if she didn't have a big head too, I'd probs hit her with my big head.)
