Family, *sigh* This week has been rough. We have one progressing investigator, David, and he is making us work really hard. We're grateful for him, but sheesh! We've been trying to do a lot of finding. We've found a bunch of awesome people that speak English, so we get to pass them to the Elders. Hopefully, they have awesome experiences with them as well. The reunion sounded fun. I miss our mountains. I even miss the bugs. At least I know what our bugs are. The birthday was weird. It was good though. I got a letter from Mandy and Sister Daines made me tres leches with strawberries. I'm still looking forward to stuff from you guys. The mail takes forever to get over here. I had a birthday miracle though. We were knocking this neighborhood and nobody really wanted to talk to us. We kept walking by this house that we were pretty sure was not a Spanish speaking home, but they had an awesome, old motorcycle and an old mustang in the garage, so I wanted to talk to them anyway. We knocked on the door and the lady didn't want anything to do with us. We just testified that Christ had sent us to her and that this prayer could really bless her. She said we could pray, but she wasn't going to open the door. When we asked her what she wanted to include in the prayer, she started to cry. She told us that one of her best friends had just died. As we shared the prayer with her, we could tell that she was crying really hard. After the prayer, she opened the door and we talked about God and Jesus Christ. She didn't want to be baptized, but she told us that she did know that God had sent us to her. It was wonderful. I loved it. Olga was baptized three weeks ago, and she has so much faith it is unbelievable. She called us last week and told us that her husband had left her. We went over to talk to her and found out that she was also being evicted from her house. She had no money for food, she had no car, and her job did not provide enough for her and her child. We talked with the ward and they were able to help her. We talked to her yesterday and she told us "I still hurt and I'm still sad, but I'm content. I know that this is the true church." She just bore her sweet testimony to us about how much she loves God, how she knows she is able to get through anything with the help of Christ, and about the comforting feelings of the Spirit. You know how Dad always used to put his hand around our wrist at church and make our hand turn all white and then let the blood rush back in? That is how Olga described the Spirit. Mom, remember when I told you that if I was able to help a mom come unto Jesus Christ, I would know my mission was successful? This is Olga. She has gone through so much and she just keeps trucking along. I can not believe her faith and strength. She invited us to visit her house in Mexico some day. Start saving up, ok? There are three funny things that I wanted to share. 1. We had just been in the Post Office and "The Locomotion" was playing. When we got back to our apartment, Sister Daines was singing it. HAHAHA and this is what she thought the words were: "Come on, Baby. Do the hokey-pokey." HAHAHAHA I laughed for about 10 minutes straight. You know you've been on a mission for a long time if... 2. This one I think only our family will get. The GPS mispronounced a street called "Rio Pinar". Do you get it? I hope you do because I almost couldn't drive I was laughing so hard. 3. We were at one of our recent converts house. She is wonderful, but all the sudden Sister Daines and I see a HUGE cockroach climb up her fridge. We don't know if it would be rude to tell her, but I wouldn't have been able to eat if that thing was alive, so I pointed at it. She turned around and just stared at it and screamed. Nobody else was going to do anything and I was not letting that thing run free. I got out my favorite roach killing weapon--my shoe-- and mustered up all the courage I had and KILLED THAT SON OF A GUN!!! People outside her trailer probably thought there was more than a cockroach dying in there; we were all screaming for a solid minute and a half. Well, that's it for this week. I hope things are going well. I love you tons, but God loves you more. Hermana Gardner
