Family,
First off: Yes, I did get the coin from Bishop. I told you a while ago in the MTC, but things were crazy right then. He told me to email him, but I don't have his email. I'll write him a quick letter today. Also, my favorite scripture is 2 Corinthians 5:17. It's the best. One of our recent converts knows my favorite scripture by heart because I use it so much HAHA.
News from Florida: Transfers are this week, so that is why I have P-day today instead of yesterday. I had no idea this is how it happened, so sorry I didn't let you know. Sister Daines and I are both staying for another transfer. Thank heavens. I know I'm still training, but I was terrified that they were going to do something crazy. They didn't though, HOORAY. So, I will be in Lauderhill Sur for another blessed 6 weeks. Best news about our week...OLGA GOT BAPTIZED!!!!!
Sister Daines and I contacted her husband my first week here, and come to find out, he was baptized in Honduras when he was nine. We invited him to church, but he kind of brushed us off. We went to visit him a few days later, and his wife came out to tell us that he was sleeping. We prayed with her, and she loved it. We started teaching her, and she accepted EVERYTHING--no questions asked. She told us so many stories about how she had come to know that God is her Heavenly Father and that Christ is her Savior. We are so grateful because we know that God prepared her. We didn't do a thing, but stay of the way of the Spirit. She was baptized on Wednesday and confirmed this Sunday. It was so fun to sit with her at church. She already feels like a life-long member. She says she can see small changes in her husband. We pray that he will have desires to change everyday.
Now, we're out finding people. We had some crazy experience with some of our investigators last week. There was this one lady, Mili, from Panama. She was looking really good for baptism. She was keeping commitments and even had us over for dinner, but then we taught her about the Word of Wisdom. We challenged her to live it and she said she didn't think she could. She loved her coffee, but she said she would try. When we came back, she was super defensive, and wouldn't let us get a word in. It was really scary because we had to be super bold. I had to interrupt her to get a word in, and I just bore my testimony to her very simply. We told her we love her, but we can't keep coming back if she doesn't have desires to change. It didn't go over well. We still hope they come to church, but I don't think we'll be making a return visit anytime soon.
We had a similar experience with a less active member. He started wailing on us about all this crazy stuff, and I've never wanted to hit someone so much in my life. He was being so rude. It's fine though because his friend wants us to come back and talk to him more. YEAH!
The work here is good. I love it, and I'm so excited to be a missionary. I hope all of you are doing well. Know that I love you and miss you. Send pictures of the 4th for me!
